Curriculum Overview
Module I – Technique Training & Practice (100 hours)
Asana, Pranayama, Mantra, Meditation, Chanting, Introduction to the yoga sutras
The journey begins through transformational classes that focus on the mechanics of your body and optimal alignment techniques. Explore how to teach and practice these techniques while practicing on your own mat.
Module II – Teaching Methodology (25 hours)
The journey continues with important aspects of teaching and empowering students in their own practice. The areas covered in module II include demonstration, observation, assisting and correcting as well as teaching styles. In addition, qualities of a teacher, how students learn and business aspects of teaching yoga will be explored.
Module III – Anatomy & Physiology (20 hours)
This module will include an introduction to human physical anatomy and physiology based on SmartYoga™ principles. Students will have a thorough understanding of these principles to yoga practice and will have an opportunity to apply them during their own practice!
Module IV – Yoga Philosophy, Lifestyle, Ethics (30 hours)
This module will include the study of yoga philosophies, yoga lifestyle and ethics.
Module V – Introduction to the chakras (5 hours)
Through this module, students will understand and experience the chakras and their relationship to the body’s energy field and how to attain deeper connection to one’s own wisdom.
Module IV – Practicum (10 hours)
In this final module, students will have an opportunity to step into the seat of the teacher through practice teaching, feedback, hands-on adjustments and an opportunity to teach community classes at Leewi Yoga during Spring/Summer 2012.
